Background of the Study
Exporting has become an essential growth strategy for small businesses worldwide. It provides access to larger markets, diversifies revenue streams, and enhances competitiveness. In Nigeria, and particularly in Katsina State, the potential for export opportunities is significant due to the availability of agricultural and locally manufactured products (Akinwale & Ibrahim, 2023).
However, many small businesses struggle to exploit export opportunities due to limited knowledge, inadequate infrastructure, and regulatory hurdles. Identifying and addressing these challenges is crucial to enabling small businesses in Katsina State to leverage export markets effectively for growth and sustainability (Okon & Musa, 2024).
Statement of the Problem
Despite the vast potential for exports in Katsina State, small businesses have not fully harnessed this opportunity for growth. Challenges such as lack of awareness about export markets, poor logistics infrastructure, and stringent regulatory requirements hinder their ability to expand beyond local markets. Understanding the impact of export opportunities on small business growth is necessary to design strategies that can enhance their competitiveness and growth prospects (Aliyu & Bello, 2023).
